Your Aloha Wedding Company

I had the pleasure of working with Your Aloha Wedding Company this year and was immediately taken by the winning combination of kindness, attention and care that they bring to everything they do.   They have quickly become one of my favorite vendors to recommend to my couples. Here is a Q&A with Owner and Wedding Coordinator, Kara Byrne.

Q&A with Kara

Bio: Originally from Washington, D.C., I moved to Maui to pursue a new career and found my niche in coordinating weddings. I traveled the world for a year before “landing” on Maui and fell in love with it’s beauty and people. I have a background as a professional equestrian and as a software sales manager. I graduated from the University of Delaware with a B.A. in English and Art History. Coordinating weddings has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. Getting to know each couple in such a way that ensures their wedding is completely about their style and taste is something I look forward to from our first contact. Planning such a special event over the course of a year and seeing it come to fruition is truly remarkable. I am honored when asked to be a part of it.

Interests: Horseback Riding, Scuba Diving, Surfing, Running, Hiking, Biking, Fishing, Kayaking, Travel!

Beach or Mountains (Makai or Mauka)? Both (I have a home on Maui and one in Colorado)

Beatles or Stones?  Beatles

Emojis or no emojis? emojis 🙂

How long have you been planning weddings? 15 years

What is your approach to creating an amazing event? I simply try to put myself into my couples’ shoes & imagine what they would need to plan every detail of one of the most important days of their lives. Being as thorough, creative, calm, detail oriented, visual and descriptive as possible certainly helps! Creating a fun, stress-free approach to planning is key. We make sure our couples know that we are there to take care of absolutely every detail so that they may simply relax, enjoy & celebrate their day with their loved ones.

Do you have a favorite wedding location on Maui? So tough to choose! Among my personal favorites would be the Ponomakena Sanctuary and Olowalu Plantation House. They are very special, beautiful venues.

What key bit of advice do you have for a couple planning their wedding on Maui? Keep calm and don’t sweat the small stuff! Choose a wedding planner that you connect with and trust.

Tell me more about your services and price range?  We offer full service, custom wedding coordination. more info here

If you were going to do something else besides weddings, what would it be? I would start an animal rescue farm.

Tell me about of one of your favorite weddings? What made it special for you?  I have too many favorites to count! If I had to tell you about just one of them, I’d say one of my favorites from this year was Renee & Adrian’s wedding at Olowalu Plantation House. They were such a fun, loving & sweet couple. I really connected with them. Both the bride & groom were equally into planning every detail with me from start to finish. Their wedding day was just really special & beautiful. They were simply perfect for each other.  See for yourself in these beautiful photos by Jana DillonFull album here.
