What is the process of getting married in Hawaii?
Getting married in Hawaii is pretty simple! Here are the 3 steps to making it happen:
Step 1: Apply Online
Apply for a marriage license online ($65 total fee). State of Hawaii Marriage License application online. This application is good for one year.
Step 2: License Agent Appointment
You and your intended spouse must make an appointment to meet with a license agent to obtain the actual marriage license. It’s usually a 10 to 15 minute meeting. The appointment fee is $5.00. Your marriage license is good for 30 days.
A list of all license agents will be on the screen after step 1. A list can also be found here: https://health.hawaii.gov/vitalrecords/marriage-licenses/license-agents/

Step 3: Get Married
Your ceremony must be performed by a licensed officiant, like myself. Bring your printed marriage license to the ceremony, we’ll sign it together afterward, and I’ll file it with the state online. Your certified marriage certificate will arrive by mail within a few weeks.
Tip: The state of Hawaii does not require witnesses for marriage certification.
