How to get married on Maui
Getting married in Hawaii is pretty straight forward. Here are the 3 simple steps to making it happen:
Step 1:
Apply for a marriage license online ($65 total fee). State of Hawaii Marriage License application online. This application is good for one year.
Step 2:
You and your intended spouse will need to make an appointment to meet with a license agent to obtain the actual marriage license. It’s usually a very short meeting. Your marriage license is good for 30 days.
A list of all license agents can be found linked from this page: https://health.hawaii.gov/vitalrecords/marriage-licenses/license-agents/
Below is a license agent here on Maui:
Sherilynn Takushi (By Appointment Only)
(808) 276-6919 – Lahaina / Kahului | Make an appointment with Sherilynn online for her Lahaina office with this link.
Step 3:
Get married by a licensed Hawaii wedding officiant like myself. Bring the printed copy of the license with you to the ceremony. We will sign the license and I will complete the process online. You will receive a certified copy of your marriage certificate in the mail in a few weeks.
Tip: The state of Hawaii does not require witnesses for marriage certification.
