Katie and Justin’s early October wedding at Palauea Beach (aka White Rock Beach) in South Maui was picture perfect. They had enjoyed a few days soaking in the warmth and beauty of Maui and were relaxed and happy for the big day. Their personal vows were tender, funny and deeply felt. Justin even quoted from a song by Lizzo that had us all laughing in delight.
Here is my Q&A with them about their intimate Maui beach wedding plus photos and all the details that helped make it just right for them. We hope you find inspiration and ideas in their story as well.

Q & A with Katie & Justin
Why did you choose Maui for your wedding? We wanted a small destination wedding in a tropical location that we’d both been to before. Maui checked all of our boxes!
What was the most stressful part of planning your wedding? Selecting the perfect restaurant to host our reception dinner that evening.
What was your most special detail from your wedding day? Being surrounded with our closest family members for an intimate wedding ceremony of just 12 people!
How long were you actively planning your wedding? About 6 months.
How did you feel after the wedding was over and you were back home? Ecstatic and so happy we decided to have our wedding in Maui.
What was important to you when choosing an officiant? Willingness to share info and help guide us when we had questions. Overall good feeling when communicating and helpfulness.
What was most important to you about the actual wedding ceremony? Being comfortable and stress free with the people we love.
Is there anything you wish you would’ve known going into the planning? Nope, we were pretty easy going.
What advice would you give couples who are planning their wedding in Hawaii? It’s a wonderful experience if you are looking for a stress-free laid back day. We loved being right on the beach and being surrounded by our family. Julienne was so very personable and made us feel like we had known her forever.
