Greeting

Aloha ________ , Aloha ________ . It’s my honor to be here in this beautiful place to preside over this ceremony as the two of you bind your lives together and walk forward into married life.

Optional opening prayer, reading or chant

Family and friends: ________ and _________ would like to thank you for your love and support – and for coming all this way to be here now. You have, in one way or another, been an important part of bringing them together and they are grateful to have you in their lives.

In Hawaii we believe in living with an Aloha spirit. You will hear aloha as both hello and goodbye – but it’s so much more than that. The word translates to “recognizing the presence of sacred life” – the Ha part of alo-ha means the breath of life. We breathe together. Aloha means love & respect. It’s a greeting as well as a blessing.

Aloha is a beautiful way to see your union in marriage. (couple faces each other and holds hands)

________ and _________ take a moment to feel your feet on the earth, the breeze on your skin, take a deep breath together. You are here in this moment because of the most powerful force we know – LOVE.

Bring to mind what it took to get you here today. It was thousands of important but also mundane moments. This includes the years before you met, wondering when it would be you would finally meet THE ONE. And so at last, you finally you caught each other’s eye and part of you knew – this is IT!  Since then, you’ve shared happy times, hard days, inside jokes, simple joys and tough challenges. Millions of breaths taken together. And at the end of each day, you reached for the hand of the other and said YES, you are THE ONE, I want this – the good, the bad and even the difficult.

You’re about to make promises to each other that you intend to keep. You’re going to vow to take care of each other, to stand up for one another, and find happiness in the other. At the heart of all these promises you are vowing to be there. You’re teaming up and saying to the other, “Every experience I am going to have, I want you to be a part of.”

_________ and ________ Are you ready, willing and able to make this a lifetime commitment?

Couple: We do / Yes / Sure / Cheeehoo!

Lei exchange and/or personal vows can be added here

Will you, ____________, keep ____________ as your favorite person — to laugh with her/him, go on adventures with her/him, support her through life’s tough moments, be proud of her/him, grow old with her/him, and find new reasons to love her/him every day?

Ring Exchange

You have chosen to exchange rings as gifts to each other. They are symbols that will remind you of your love and the promises you make here today.
I’d like to mention a fun fact about the wedding band – it’s round. That means there are no sides to it – just a perfect circle symbolizing togetherness without opposition. When you look at these rings later remember that there are no sides just pure connection.

______ place the ring on _________’s finger and repeat after me:

This ring is a token of my love. I marry you with this ring, with all that I have and all that I am.
