Info and Resources for Getting Married in Hawaii

Getting married in Hawaii is pretty straight forward as far as paperwork.  Here are the 4 steps to making it happen:

Step 1: Read over the State of Hawaii Marriage License Information and requirements here: Requirements information for the State of Hawaii

Step 2: Apply for a marriage license online ($65 total fee). State of Hawaii Marriage License application online. This application is good for one year.

Step 3: You and your intended spouse will need to make an appointment to meet with a license agent to obtain the actual marriage license. They will need to see identification and other relevant paperwork. Your marriage license is good for 30 days.

There are a number of license agents on Maui and a list of them can be found here: http://health.hawaii.gov/vitalrecords/license-agents/

Some are available on the weekends and for last minute appointments.

Pro-Tip: If you will be calling a license agent from a non-US phone number you might want to contact them by email instead.  Sherilynn Takushi takes online appointments and has an email contact on her website.   http://www.hawaiimarriagelicenseinfo.com/

Step 4:  Get married by a licensed Hawaii wedding officiant like myself.  We will complete the license form online, keeping a signed paper copy of the license worksheet for our record.  You will receive a certified copy of your marriage certificate in the mail in a few weeks. The state of Hawaii does not require witnesses for marriage certification.
